Around 700 high-ranking representatives from politics, science, civil society and the business sector and from more than 70 countries met in Berlin from 19 – 20 April to discuss the latest developments and challenges in the global bioeconomy.We counted more than 600 external views of the live webcast.
More than 100 top-class speakers contributed to the event. They included ministers and government representatives from Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, South and North America, international policy experts from organizations such as the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the European Commission, as well as high-level representatives from science, industry and NGOs. In ten plenary sessions and 14 workshops, the participants discussed a wider ange of societal, scientific, economic and political challenges to implementing the visions of the bioeconomy. In the Bioeconomy World Exhibition visitors could experience innovative biobased products. The Media Corner presented best practice examples for outreach material. The three winners of the Bioeconomy Art Competition were awarded during the evening reception.
